Digital Expertise: network analysis, mapping, computer vision

Raja Adal has experience working with medium-to-large-scale historical archives that are often handwritten in non-Latin scripts (Japanese and Arabic).  His expertise lies in image capture, in generating metadata from tens of thousands of handwritten documents, and in using machine learning (in collaboration with computer scientists) to recognize visual elements in this written archive.  Thus far his work has involved network analysis, mapping, and computer vision.  He is also interested in the use of presentation and audience-participation technology in teaching and lectures.
